Rare Pusheens

We’re really curious about how her fur feels compared to the newer generation solutions.

We actually bought her recently. This was the purchase we made and our next expensive pushy purchase will be the jumble.  We have seen listings a few months ago, selling for around $300. The prices have come down a bit since the current Covid crisis.

Number Four – Pusheen Sugar Jumbo Lollipop
This is a Super Jumbo. This is currently still available to purchase.

Rare Pusheens

The label states that the dimensions are a bit smaller than the 38 inches jumbo, even though they look exactly the same, except for the ginormous lollipop. If anyone has her, please let us know in the comments.

If she’s really smaller, she’s 32 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds. She’s $500 plus additional shipping and text. One of our subscribers mentioned that she purchased her in our news video episode number two. So please let us know her dimensions and how awesome she is.

Number Three – Pusheen Lying on her Side

Number three is the older jumbo plushie she was made in 2017 and is lying on her side. She’s 41 inches long and a 21 inches tall, just a few months back. She was available on Amazon for about $400, but one out of stock. So her prices skyrocketed. The only listing we found on eBay and McCurry has her listed for $719.Rare Pusheens

Wow, how quickly the prices of these poutines go up? Once they become rare status, we actually bought her about a year ago, but having featured her in our channel yet when we get the other jumble pushing and we’ll surely do a review video on both of them.

Number Two – Rare Fuffy Fluersheen

Number two is the very, very rare fluffy fluersheen version. She was the very first or original pusheen. We have originally thought the 2015 version was the first pusheen until we discovered this one during our research, we actually have never seen her go on sale. So the value of her is very questionable.

But one thing we know for sure is that she’s worth more than $800.

She was made in July 2012, the early listings we’re calling her fuzzy, pushy, not eBay. And when we say pre-Gund pusheen, and this means that these positions were created before Gunds started manufacturing pusheen they’re top-notch, quality plush materials previously pushing were sold on a website called a paycheck. Let us know if any of you guys have her.

Are you ready for the rarest of the rare pusheens number one?

Number One /Rarest/The First Pusheen/Pre Gund Pusheen

There are 3 Generations

  • 2015 “Floof” Pusheen (is crazy fluffy, 19-inch size, hard to find)

  • Surprise Plush Series 1 rare/chasers, e.g. Taco Pusheen and Purple Pusheen in a donut

  • Surprise Plush Series 3 rare, e.g. Pusheen cat on a laptop

  • Toy Fair exclusives (a singular limited-run variant sold only at this industry-only show, often comes up on ebay). Examples might be Pusheen with Cookie, an orange Pusheenasaurus, a mini version of Super Pusheenicorn, etc.

  • Any of the It’Sugar Pusheens (e.g., the pretzel one you describe above, snow cone/cotton candy Pusheen, parfait Pusheen, the mini-Pusheens in pink flamingo or yellow-ducky floaties, etc)

  • Pre-Gunds in general (noted that their tags do not say Gund on them, sometimes have lines across the neck area, etc etc)

  • Pumpkin Pusheen (the best example of an online heychickadee/thepusheenshop exclusive, was only released twice)

The grandmother of all of who she means. This is the very first pushing push to come out. This pushing is so rare. We have never seen one on eBay or Macquarie being sold as well until earlier this month, as you can see, she was sold on May 10th, 2020 for a whopping $900.

The listing says Everyday Cute because this was a website where pushin comics were first created and sold I believe. Tom Pusheen was made in June of 2011. We’re not sure how large he is, but based on these pictures, he seems to be off the lock size, regardless if he’s a large size or medium 12 inches. She’s for sure the rarest and expensive pushy and plush during our research, we found out there are three generations of Pusheen. The original one we mentioned is the first generation with the Everyday tag frowning.

We mentioned earlier, Tom Pusheen has the word pushin on the tag, black whiskers, and eyes, and was made in 2012 and is worth around $300 or more.

The third generation looks very similar to the second. The only difference is the whiskers and eyes are Brown colors, just like all the pushings are today. Also, the tag has the Pusheen logo and is made between 2013 and 2014. These go for around $200 based on condition and size. Even the tiny six inches ones go for around $150.

They also may pre-con versions too. They’re pink, purple, and green. If you guys are interested in purchasing one of these, you will need to scour eBay or Fishpond.com.au and be ready to spend quite a bit of money.

Have fun collecting and hunting down the bargains online. Please leave your to comment below and tell us about your favorite pusheen.

15 Extraordinary Hot Water Bottle PLUSH Covers

Plush Hot Water Bottle Covers

Invented over 500 years ago, the hot water bottle is everybody’s friend in those chilly months. Some choose electric blankets or wheat bags but my favorite is the hot water bottle.

The hot water bottle is good for relieving joint stiffness, pressure, muscle strain, fatigue or cramps, aches, menstrual cycle pressure, and usually for initial heating of cold bedsheets. Hot water bottle therapy benefits have been known since the 16th century and is still used by many complementary therapies. Although the hot water bottle offers comfort to ease the pain, this therapy method can increase patient risk of scalding.

So not only providing a place to warm up your feet, the hot water bottle has healing powers. For the mear price of $5.95 AUD, this is added benefit to the household.

WARNING

Burns are preventable and therefore, some basic measures may reduce the incidence of accidental burn injury due to heated hot water bottles.

1) The hot water bottle manufacturers have to post warnings in their owner’s manuals of the danger of potential burns. The hot water bottles should be tested to increase their safety.

2) The hot water bottle should be examined for any damage, such as splits, holes or leaks before using. The hot water bottles should not be filled with boiling water, because boiling water may cause splits or leaks and will shorten the life of the hot water bottle.

3) The hot water bottle should not be overfilled. Three quarters is the maximum level to fill. A hot water bottle gives out plenty of heat as well when filled to the correct level.

4) The hot water bottles have to wrap in a towel to prevent the bottle from being in direct contact with the skin especially for patients with sensory deficits.

5) The hot water bottle should exchange every one or two years because the bottles which are in good condition on the outside may be damaged on the inside.

6) The hot water bottle should only use to warm the bed.

The bottle should remove before getting into bed and empty it or place it out of reach. It should not use in a bed fitted with an electric blanket. Users should not lean on, roll on, press against, or lie on a hot water bottle. We hope that this case report will succeed in raising awareness of the dangers involved in the hot water bottles.

9 Famous Funko Plush

Funko Plush

To celebrate the endlessly creepy Funko plush from Five Nights at Freddy’s media franchise that now encompasses video games, books and other merchandise, I have put together a review of FNaF popular plush.

Funk Plush Review

Helpy

9 Famous Funko Plush

Five Nights at Freddy’s : Pizza Sim – Helpy 12″ US Exclusive Plush Toy

He’s got his bow tie and buttons and chubby cheeks. They’ve got the colors right too in comparison tot the game.

The buck teeth are an addition to the design which is not really authentic. Otherwise, I feel like this is a good plushy. The most glaring issue I see is his mouth. Funko generally just makes the seam on their snout and the mouth. However, the illusion is lost when you added more seams than necessary in the mouth. In the past Freddy was just on seem for the mouth. Why did you change this now designed to be worse?  The typical Freddy has three, two of which being barely visible. I will admit overall, this plushy is cute and accurate enough. However, I think the design really works on a larger plush, medium helping here. I would recommend the larger plush.

El Chip

Funko Plush

Funko Plush: Five Nights at Freddy’s Pizza Simulator – El Chip Collectible Figure, Multicolor

This plush is made of quality material. The sombreros, interesting material, but I think it works. The only problem with this material is it does not go back to its original shape after being stretched.

He’s got his little tail as well. That’s a really nice detail.  The characters, they always have great buck teeth. He has details on his legs too adding to the uniqueness of the plush.  What you’re seeing in El Chip is mainly his teeth. Other plush like Helpy plush has super small teeth. I know technically that’s more accurate, but in plush form, Helpy would look better with larger teeth like El chip.

Speaking of which does he actually look like a Beaver ? I have to say yes. This tail should have been made twice as long. And some quilting would have made a world of difference.

The key characteristic for El Chip debatably is his giant sombrero. Overall, I think this is a great plush. The way that the color around the eyes was done is something that I really, really dislike and have disliked ever since they started, these rings of color are supposed to be flushed with the rest of their head. Other than that this El Chip is a nice plushy. His colors are spot on.

Oriville The Elephant

Orville is one of our favourites.Funko Plush

Funko Plush Five Nights at Freddy’s Pizza Simulator – Orville Elephant Collectible Figure, Multicolor

The eyes probably bothered me the most, to be honest. I don’t really think making an elephant plush would be easy. Funko has done a good job although he seems a bit overstuffed. Look at that cute smile though. His whole trunk area is just so well done. The zone in lines and the little curve up at the end really look effective. If only his face was a little less bulky, I’d say this is one of my favourite plushes.

Mr Hippo

Onto to Mr Hippo. Mr Hippos face does looks unusual for some reason. He just doesn’t look like Hippo to me. I just don’t feel like it’s a very good representation of the character.

Mr. Hippo is dark purple is usually a much darker color and yes, Mr. Hippo, isn’t an exclusive.

Funko Plush

Five Nights at Freddy’s Pizzeria Simulator Hippo Figure Funko

Yes, he’s popular, but does he compare to Helpy or Lefty? I wouldn’t assume so.

Happy Frog is next. Let’s hear from our happier frog first.

Happy Frog

Happy Frog looks really good. I don’t have any faults for Happy Frog. I mean, it looks super accurate as well. Funko have given Happy more detail in a variety of colors even on the legs. She  even has eye lashes, which is a really nice detail to me.

Five Nights at Freddys Pizzeria Simulator Frog Plush Funko

Five Nights at Freddys Pizzeria Simulator Frog Plush Funko

She looks like she’s permanently scrunching up her nose. What makes happy frog exclusive? I can’t imagine anyone out there desperately wanting to add happy frog to their collection, but maybe I just don’t see what everyone else does.

Our last mediocre Melody’s character, the Pig Patch.

Pig Patch

funko plush

Funko Plush Five Nights at Freddy’s Pizza Simulator – Pigpatch Collectible Figure, Multicolor

Pigpatch has a weird shaped heads. The original plushy forms was animatronic. So I don’t  understand the big head, pig patch. Detail is key for these plushies. Big eyes and big cheeks look great. They’ve even added a little pink stitching and a belly button. That’s awesome.

I love how they’ve added a little pink tie. It would have been nicer if it was actually a pig tail sticking out to. I really liked the material that they use is good quality.

I think this could be plushie line of products with cousins like Pork patch or Bacon patch.

Now let’s get this party started with the Rock Star characters.

Rockstar Freddy

Do I think Funko gives him justice? The plush has star on the chest, but it feels a bit cheap to me guys. Feels like a sticker. It looks great. I’m just worried that it might peal off easily.

funko plush

Funko Plush: Five Nights at Freddy’s Pizza Simulator – Rockstar Freddy Collectible Figure, Multicolor

He’s got the purple top hat. The purple bow tie,s the cheeks, the freckles, the plastic nose. He’s knee pads, which all of the rock stars have. I do feel they have overdone the bilging eyes. Apart from the eyes, everything else looks great. Its colors overall is spot on. He also has a quirky little smile. Overall. I give Freddie 8/10.

Foxy

Next up we have our pirate pal rockstar Foxy.

funko plush

Five Nights at Freddy’s Foxy Fox 10 inches Plush Doll

This plush is missing half of the rockstar characters from second pizzeria SIM set.

I liked the fact that they added a pink leg to this rockstar. Foxy looks a bit weird because they added the eye patch on the bulge of the eye and instead of like covering it completely.

I like the tuft of hair at the top. I feel like the colors a little bit off. It is a bit too light coampared to the original rockstar. The parot is a great added feature.  I feel like Funko did try harder on the series and that’s a really good sign for the future.

Bonnie

funko Plush

Funko Five Nights At Freddy’S Bonnie Plush, 6″

Bonnie was just released later than the other here. You can tell it’s spring Bonnie, which is good.

Bonnie has been transformed into a 6″ Plush by Funko. 6″ Plush figure features Funko’s unique style. These adorable plush figures are perfect for any Five Nights at Freddy’s fan!

All the plush can are collectable items from the Five Nights at Freddy’s theme from Funko. Please check with Amazon AU for the current price as some these items have increased in value. All these plush in this articl have a Funko label sown into the bottom of the item with double stiching. Look for the label for authenticity.

3 Seductive Factors About Cute Anime Plushie

3 Seductive Factors About Cute Anime Plushie

The Cute Factor

The is a scientific reason why we find something cute and adorable. This is known as the cute factor.

That feeling you get when you find something simply adorable. It makes you stop what you are doing and reflect.

1.The Pyschological Factor

There have been many studies on this and All good stuff makes us nuts, and if we didn’t know why we’ll be bad scientists. Researchers explored brain activity while viewing adorable baby images.

The baby is the so-called “Nucleus Accumbens,” the more the source of pleasure activates.

The pinch causes a blast in the play heart – a pleasant dopamine-induced sensation.

Cuteness research is more evolutionary and fascinating than you might think.

Is it evolutionary?

Evolving psychology questions why other and repulsive features are attractive. Such behaviours were adaptive in our ancestors, although this may seem subjective and elusive. It’s fun thinking, definitely.

Babies haven’t grown sweet. We’ve grown to think babies are good.

Cuteness is a difficult way for adults to cultivate impulses that look like a cute infant.

Naturally, older babies are less healthy. Yet evolution is completed by then. It’s cute! It’s good, though.

I’ve been “using” adorable … Sigh! Sigh!

2. The Communication Factor

Characteristics of cuteness may be communicated by humans and non-humans, like cartoons. This experience blends organic with emotional.

We established strong inclinations for features such as big heads, broad face eyes, small nose and soft round bodies.

That may be one explanation why our pet dogs and cats look very different from their angry ancestors — we made them beautiful.

We chose these animals for their young characteristics, unstable behaviour and childlike features.

The explanation for our nice or nasty animals is that we use evolving standards to help us determine our own species members.

Baby animals are cute because it turns on the cute factor response in our brains. With a slow sigh of “ooohhh isn’t she so cute” when we stand in wonder at the big, round head of a human child.

That’s why we don’t respond the same way as looking at the strange looks of an ant eater.

Beauty (here cuteness) lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Scientific evidence suggests our biology contributes to our taste.

3.The Touch Factor

A review of research, conducted by Tiffany Field, a leader in the field of touch, found that preterm newborns who received just three 15-minute sessions of touch therapy each day for 5-10 days gained 47 percent more weight than premature infants who’d received standard medical treatment.

Similarly, research by Darlene Francis and Michael Meaney has found that rats whose mothers licked and groomed them a lot when they were infants grow up to be calmer and more resilient to stress, with a stronger immune system.

This research sheds light on why, historically, an overwhelming percentage of humans babies in orphanages where caretakers starved them of touch have failed to grow to their expected height or weight, and have shown behavioral problems.

So you see there is an important touch component to cute plushies. If out of all the factor I choose to be the most important would be the touch factor.

Plants V’s Zombies Plush

Plants Vs Zombies

Plants v’s Zombies is a defense and strategy video game developed and originally published by PopCap Games for Windows and iOS in May 2009, and ported to consoles, handhelds, and mobile devices, and in remastered versions for personal computers.

Plants Vs Zombies plush can be purchased by clicking  HERE!

Check with our Toy Standards should you have any concerns about the product.

Plants vs Zombies

In Plant V’s Zombies the player takes the role of a homeowner in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. To defend their home from zombies, some of which have unique abilities, the player uses plants that can fire projectiles at, or have other detrimental effects on the horde of advancing zombies.

Zombies approach along several parallel lanes on the lawn, and the player must plan defenses in these lanes. If a zombie makes it to the house on any lane, the level is over.

Director George Fan was inspired to make the game after playing other tower defense titles and wanting to eliminate the typical strategies of sending advancing enemies through mazes, instead adapting the lane approach to remove this strategy.

Plants v's Zombies

Plants Vs Zombies 2:

Released in 2013 for iOS and Android, Garden Warfare and its sequel in addition to a digital collectible card game,

Players place different types of plants and fungi, each with their own unique offensive or defensive capabilities, around their house, in order to stop a horde of zombies from reaching it.

The playing field is divided into 5 to 6 horizontal lanes, each with lawnmowers, and with rare exceptions, a zombie will move towards the player’s house along one lane only (the main exception is if it has bitten garlic, causing it to move to another lane).

Most plants can attack or defend against zombies in the lane they are planted in only. The game uses several different level types and layouts, each with their own gimmick.plants v's zombies

The game starts out in a front yard and progresses to nighttime levels (sun will not be able to be gathered for free), where the gameplay is more challenging without any replenishing sun unless specific plants are used.

Later levels are nighttime pool levels (where fog fills the right half of the screen except when specific plants are used), a lightning storm level in pitch black (except when illuminated by occasional flashes of lightning), and rooftop levels (where a slanted roof renders most offensive plants useless).

Plants V's Zombies

On the final level, the player must face a huge robot operated by a zombie who takes the form of a mad scientist known as Dr. Zoomboss.

At different stagers throughout the game, the player is either warned through a letter by zombies or their neighbor, Crazy Dave, to prepare for an ambush, where the game takes on a bowling style, using wallnuts to bowl down zombies, or a modified version of regular levels, where random plant types come upon a conveyor belt, and the player can use the plants without spending any sun. Plants v's Zombies

The player starts with a limited number of seed pack types and seed pack slots that they can use during most levels. The number of slots can be increased through purchases with in-game money.

At the start of a level, the player is shown the various types of zombies to expect and given the opportunity to select which seed packs to take into the level.

Certain plants are highly effective against specific types of zombies, such as the Magnet-shroom, which can remove metallic items from a zombie, such as helmets, buckets, ladders, and pogo sticks.

Plants may be placed on any available square of lawn, on lily pads floating in a pool, or in flowerpots on a rooftop; these last two items may be chosen as a seed pack for their respective level types and deployed to increase the usable planting space.

Plants Vs ZombiesThe zombies also come in a number of types that have different attributes, in particular, speed, damage tolerance, and abilities. Zombies include those wearing makeshift armor, those who can jump or fly over plants, and a dancing zombie able to summon other zombies from the ground.

At various points, the player will be inundated with a huge wave of zombies. If a zombie reaches the end of a lane, a lawnmower will shoot forward and destroy all the zombies in that lane.

However, if a zombie reaches the end of that same lane for a second time, it will reach the player’s house. When this happens, the music changes and the other plants and zombies stop moving while that zombie enters the house.

Crunching sounds will be heard, accompanied by a scream and a message saying “The zombies ate your brains!”. The game will then end and display the Game Over dialog box along with an option to retry the level or return to the main menu at the upper-right side of the screen.

Game modes

The primary game mode is Adventure Mode in which the player can earn money to spend at an in-game store to buy new seed packets and other bonuses.

In the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Nintendo DS versions, there is also a Co-Op mode, as well as 2 Player Mini-Games and a Versus mode (only Versus mode in the Nintendo DS version & Xbox Live Arcade).

The Adventure Mode consists of 5 different areas and 50 different area levels. They are shown with the area number first, followed by the level number in the game.

Each level in this model has a certain amount of flags and one final wave. The adventure mode is the first game mode and is also the main mode. Every 5th level will be a mini-game, while the 10th level will be a conveyor level.

When and if the player plays through it a second time, Crazy Dave will pick 3 random seeds that the player must use based on the zombies and area they are in every level, this is, of course, optional but it can assist the player in getting more of the in-game currency.

Mini-games are unlocked during the Adventure mode and are mostly for fun.

Puzzles Mode consist of 18 levels from 2 different “modes”, Vasebreaker, where you break vases that either contains a plant seed or a zombie.

Zombie Mode is  where you create zombies to destroy cardboard cutouts of plants.

On iOS and Android versions, there’s also a third mode called Last Stand that similar to the level with the same name from the Mini-Game Mode but with different zombies in each wave.

Survival is the second-largest game mode in Plants vs Zombies. Survival is the last game mode in the game itself. There is also a page of canceled mini-games called the Limbo Page which can be accessed using the Cheat Engine.

The game also features a Zen Garden, where players can care for plants they previously purchased from Crazy Dave’s Twiddydinkies or occasionally dropped by zombies. Plants will grow only when the game has been running for enough time.

Zombies director George Fan intended on balancing the game between a “gritty” game and a “sickeningly cute” game.

He was inspired to make it a tower defense game after both thinking of a more defense-oriented version of a previous title of his, Insaniquarium, and playing some Warcraft III tower defense mods.

While he was looking at the towers in Warcraft III, he felt that plants would make good towers. He wanted to bring something new to the genre with new Plants vs.Zombies 3 released this year, 2020.

In Conclusion, Plants vs. Zombies (PVZ) is a tower defence video game developed and originally published by PopCap Games for Microsoft Windows and OS X. The game involves a homeowner using a variety of different plants to prevent an army of zombies from entering their house and “eating their brains”.

Zombies (Basic Zombie in Plants vs. Zombies 2) and their world-themed variants in Plants vs. Zombies 2 are the most basic “zombie” units. In fact, they take three shots for a Melon-pult to kill one of them or ten peas. Having no special defensive equipment or travel abilities, these zombies are susceptible to any type of attack.

They are found in most levels and are the first zombies the player encounters in every Plants vs. Zombies game.

At the official start of a level, a siren noise will appear and one will say “the zombies… are coming…” and moan, signalling that the zombies are about to come.

The Conehead Zombie, Buckethead Zombie, Screen Door Zombie, Trash Can Zombie, Camel Zombies, Blockhead Zombie, Knight Zombie, Bug Zombie, and Jurassic Fossilhead become this zombie when their armour is destroyed.

Sylvanians: A potted history

Sylvanian Families was launched in Japan 1in 1985. The line started with just one house, 11 pieces of furniture, and 9 families.

The look and feel of the brand was inspired by the Japanese view of the UK: twee, old fashioned and innocent.

The concept around Sylvanian Families has always been around dolls’ houses and imaginative play, which is why the sets would come on their own.

It would be up to each to child to individually make their own decisions about which family lived in which house and how it was furnished.

New characters would be introduced to run the bakery or the restaurant etc. but there are no hard or fast rules when it comes to the world of Sylvainian Families.

The Dappledawn Fawn Rabbit Family

The Dappledawn Fawn Rabbit Family

Based on three concepts, Nature, Family and Love, the idea was for children to explore the power of imagination and learn to care and share with one another.

Sylvanian Families are there to help children acquire key social skills. It promotes wholesome play and has an enduring appeal which helps to develop thoughts and emotions.

Up until earlier this year all the families lived in the Sylvanian Village, where everyone enjoys the world of nature.

Set around everyday lives, to be enjoyed in comfort, Sylvanian Families covers a range of activities in which children can explore different play patterns and create their own stories.

Since March 2018, fans of Sylvanian Families now have the Sylvanian Town to collect too.

As with most countryside-dwellers seeking a spot of shopping and culture on a trip to town, Sylvanians can enjoy a host of sophisticated activities, designed with all the usual intricate details for which the global toy brand is famous.

WHAT DOES A 1985 STICKER ON THE FOOT OF SYLVANIAN FAMILIES FIGURES MEAN?

The Sylvanian Family's 35th Anniversary

The sticker “1985 Epoch China” (or similar wording) does not refer to the date the figure was released. This refers to the date of copyright of, the company, that is, Epoch Toys Ltd, a Japanese company who came up with the concept of Sylvanian Families Toys in Japan in 1985.

Even toys you buy in stores today likely will have this 1985 sticker under one foot.

The sticker is often placed over a tiny pinhole that is generally found under the right foot of a figure, which is part of the manufacturing procedure.

Often sellers or buyers who are relatively new to collecting can be genuinely mistaken in thinking they have discovered a 30 year old vintage Sylvanian treasure, however, this 1985 sticker is still found on new figures even today and does not denote the date of release.

SYLVANIAN FAMILIES FIGURES – WHY DO THEY HAVE A TINY HOLE IN ONE FOOT?

Have you ever noticed that your Sylvanian Families figures have a small pinhole sized hole under their right foot?  Some earlier figures have this tiny indent under both feet. In some figures this is more prominent and in others it is barely noticeable.

This hole is part of the manufacturing process and all Sylvanian Families figures are produced with the same tiny hole underfoot. Often the 1985 sticker (referred to above) is placed over it, so only once the copyright sticker is removed you will notice the small hole.

The Sylvanian Family's 35th Anniversary

Various theories about the cause of this abound. One theory is that this hole is used during the flocking process (the procedure used to cover the figure in that cute, soft, furry coating.) You may have observed if you own some well-worn Sylvanian figures, underneath the figure is a hard plastic. Likely a wire stand is placed up through one foot of the figure to hold it upright during the flocking process. This ensures a perfectly even coating of soft flocking all over the body of the critter. Once the flocking has dried sufficiently, the wire is removed and the sticker placed over the slight hole indented in the foot. Figures who are not standing, (ie, sitting baby figures) will often have this pinhole indent on their bottom instead)

WHAT DOES “DISCONTINUED” AND “RETIRED” SYLVANIAN FAMILIES MEAN?

Every year Sylvanian Families introduce exciting new items to their product line sold in stores. Often new items will be sold on the overseas market first and around 1 to 2 years later “This year’s latest Sylvanians” appear in stores Australia-wide, available for purchase.

However, this ever evolving line of “new” Sylvanian products, means that some of the previous products are “retired” or “discontinued” from production. After a time the previous line of items are no longer manufactured, so once they have been sold out in stores they eventually become quite hard to find and many of them become a “collectible item”

As with many other toy brands, as a Sylvanian Families item becomes less available, it becomes more collectible and the price of the item increases due to it’s scarcity.

You may notice that items featured in the Sylvanian Families catalogue change every year. If an item is in the catalogue, we can fairly safely consider that it is still in production. Once it no longer appears in the annual  catalogue, it is likely that it has been “retired” and won’t be seen on store shelves any more once sold out.

WHAT EXACTLY IS “STORAGE WEAR”, “SHELF WEAR” AND “AGE WEAR”?

We all love the pristine look of brand new Sylvanians bought directly from the shop. However today in most shops we can generally only purchase “current in stock” items which are  still being manufactured. The packaged products have come directly from the factory and wholesale warehouse with a relatively short time between production and distribution, therefore with very limited handling and storage, so we expect to see them looking new.

However, for many people the most sought after items are the Sylvanian Families sets and figures that you can no longer purchase in stores. Here, at Sylvanian Specialty Store it’s our aim to offer as many retired or discontinued products as possible. Some items have been stored away in warehouses for many years in various parts of the world. Some items have been sitting on shelves of stores for many years before they turn up in our store.

So understandably, although these items are brand new and unopened, the outer box packaging may wear a little “history”. If this is the case, our store makes mention of any wear on the box in the product description, or any particular characteristic of the item that the collector should know about.

This is all part of collecting “discontinued” and “retired” Sylvanian Families and although we do our best to source many unique and sought after older products, often slight imperfections in the outer packaging of older items cannot be avoided.

The Sylvanian Family's 35th Anniversary

Shelf wear = New items that have been sitting on a retail store shelf for many years. A description of “shelf wear” can mean there may be a dent in the plastic packaging or the edges of the box may show a little wear, tear, scuffing or general marks from the box being handled.

Storage wear = New items that have been stored away in warehouses for many years in different countries around the world. Due to various climates or warehouse conditions the box or packet may show a little wear, discolouring, fading or a slight tear or dent in the outer packaging.

Age wear = This tends to apply to vintage items or items that have been stored for many years and any of the following characteristics can apply. Sometimes the cellotape that seals a box can appear yellowed and a little curled up at the edges. Boxes may have some fading or general wear on the outer packaging. The packaging has an appearance consistent with being stored for 20 or 30 years. There may have been 1980’s price stickers that have been removed from the box, leaving a sticker mark. Sometimes there is yellow age spotting on the inside cardboard packaging inserts.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN BUYING A VINTAGE BRAND NEW SYLVANIAN FAMILIES ITEM?

Sylvanian Families have always been a top quality product, and were definitely made to last. Items released in the 1980s, brand new in their packaging, can still look as perfectly new as they did 30 years ago. Likely the outer box will show signs of age and wear, but the buildings, figures and accessories tend to stand the test of time extremely well.

Sylvanian Families White Buildings “yellowing” with age

In some cases white or cream coloured vintage buildings or furniture may begin to yellow in places, due to age. In general, non-white buildings and furniture retain their original colour remarkably well. Some examples of white buildings and furniture sets which I have noticed age discolouring in are:

*The early 1990’s Sylvanian Families Harvester Restaurant

*The 3 storeyed cream coloured 1990 Sylvanian Families Deluxe Country Mansion)

*The Red and White Grand Hotel may show signs of yellowing in the white areas.

* White furniture sets, such as the 1990s Tomy white Patio furniture set or the Tomy white garden seats.

Brand new vintage Figures with a small rub mark on the back of their head

One point to note, however, is when figures have remained sealed and never removed from their box long term, the soft flocking on the centre of the back of the figure’s head can leave a slightly flattened mark, where the figure’s head has been leaning against the back of the box.  This is mostly only noticeable with gray or brown coloured figures, such as the Elephant Family or the UK Hazelwood brown mouse family or the vintage Slydale fox family, as examples.  This generally only occurs when the figure is tied by bindings against a cardboard backing, especially when they have been tied into place for many years. The small area can appear to be a slightly lighter colour than the flocking around it and give the impression of being “faded” when it likely only that the flocking has been pressed flat for some time. This is fairly common with figures that have been stored brand new in the box for several years.

This can even be the case with brand new recent figures too. Often by brushing the flocking lightly in the other direction the flattened flocking impression will smooth away. However with vintage item dating back to the 1980’s the flattened patch at the back of it’s head is likely to remain so.

Paws and Feet

Note the colour of the paws of these brand new Sylvanian Families Grey Striped Cats. On Sylvanian Families figures with paws, or creviced hands or feet, the flocking can appear slightly darker in colour in the crevices. This is usual for Sylvanian figures, such as cat and dog figures and several other families and this is how the figures arrive from the manufacturer. However, other animal families, such as goat figures, have a flatter, round hand or foot, therefore the flocking coverage will be more even in tone.

 SYLVANIAN FAMILIES –  FROM 1985 TO 2018

If you’re new to collecting, you’ll be amazed at the variety of sets that have been available over the years. Afterall, Sylvanian Families have been producing items since 1985!  If they produced 10 new sets every year, that could well be 300 or more different Sylvanian Families sets, or maybe many more. Bearing in mind also, that different countries produce their own exclusive sets which we would never see in Australian stores, this could add up to 20 to 30 new sets internationally each year. There are sets released only in Japan, or in USA (under the name of Calico Critters brand) or Europe. Even Mexico and Italy have had sets released exclusive to their own country. This also means there is a wide range of different packaging used over the years. See below for some examples of how the Sylvanian Families packaging has changed over the years.

There are also Sylvanian Families Limited Edition sets released on occasions in some countries. This may mean only several 1000 sets were ever produced, making them quite sought after by collectors around the world.

ARE CALICO CRITTERS THE SAME AS SYLVANIAN FAMILIES?

Yes! Calico Critters and Sylvanian Families are one and the same. Initially they were branded and sold as Sylvanian Families in the USA and Canada, however in 1993 Tomy (who was responsible for worldwide distribution of Sylvanian Families at the time) lost the rights to use the name Sylvanian Families in USA. Instead they re-named the product as Calico Critters of Cloverleaf Corners, and continue to sell under this brand name today in USA.

We stock USA Calico Critters in our store, essentially Calico Critters items that are not available in Australia, or that are exclusive to the USA Calico Critters range.  Although the same product, our Calico Critters in our store are typically more expensive than many of the Sylvanian Families in our store, due to high importing costs.

The Sylvanian Family's 35th Anniversary

WHY ARE SOME SYLVANIAN FAMILIES FIGURES SO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHERS?

Sylvanian Families do vary widely in price. So, why is one family worth so much more than another?

In general, Sylvanian Families that can be found in stores still today, that are still in production and are readily available from Australian wholesale distributors, can be purchased for the market price. These will often be found on sale for very reasonable prices in Sylvanian Specialty Store as well as  many other stores in Australia.

As mentioned above, the pricing of figures depends on their availability and their demand. Sylvanian Families that have been out of production for several years can be very expensive to source and import, which is reflected in their online price. Some of the most popular figures that are still in high demand are the Sylvanian Families Cow Family, Pig Family, Otter Family, Meerkat, Elephant and Sheep Family. All of these have been out of production for some years now, but we regularly manage to source brand new supplies of these from overseas and feature them in our Sylvanian Families Hard to Find Families collection when they become available.

We also need to factor in that some Sylvanian Families sets were Limited Edition releases to celebrate special occasions, such as the fabulous 2011 Royal Wedding special celebration set, the Sylvanian Families Chocolate Rabbit Wedding Set complete with William Balmoral (groom) and his beautiful bride Catherine. There are many other special release sets too, which are generally somewhat more expensive, due to only a limited number having been produced for a special occasion.

WHY ARE SOME SYLVANIAN FAMILIES BUILDINGS AND FURNITURE AN UNEVEN COLOURING?

This is fairly common in brown coloured Sylvanian furniture or items made of plastic, which are designed to look like wooden furniture or wooden flooring.  Even modern day items, such as the floors of the current Sylvanian Families Tree house and even brand new items will display this inconsistent colouring that can be mistaken for fading. Rest assured, this is how the item comes brand new.

It is especially noticeable in furniture items. Often there will be a darker spot in the plastic where there is a join. Or a slightly patchy coloured look in places. These variations in colour in furniture and flooring are normal in both vintage and brand new items and are not considered a defect or product flaw. Below are photos of a vintage circular table top and the underside of an armchair as examples of this uneven colouring found on most brown wood-look Sylvanian Families items

Examples in images below are all of brand new items.

Sylvanian Families brown furniture faded patches uneven colouring

Sylvanian Families discoloured on table top manufacturing processSylvanian Families slight coloured patches on brown furniture

WHY DOES THE SAME SYLVANIAN FAMILIES PRODUCT COME IN DIFFERENT BOXES?

Depending on which company distributed the Sylvanian Families item at the time of it’s release. Some items come in blue packaging by Flair. Other more recently released Sylvanian Families items come in lighter coloured packaging by Epoch.

See examples of the same set below which has been sold in slightly varied packaging.

The Early Days of Steiff Teddy Bears

Steiff Teddy Bears company is over 120 years old.

Steiff Teddy Bears
Steiff Teddy Bears

The toy was first created in 1902 and was named after  Theodore Roosevelt. A childhood favourite has reached a ripe old age – the teddy bear is 100 years old. Now the teddy is big business.

Steiff produced black bears after the Titanic disaster. At the same time, a factory in Germany owned by seamstress Margarete Steiff began making a soft plush, jointed bear – with a trademark button in the left ear.

In 1903, the company exported 3,000 bears to America. Daniel Agnew, a specialist from Christie’s, said the bears on sale on Tuesday were more than childhood toys. He explained the hobby of collecting bears had become more and more popular in recent years. “In the 1970s and 80s, it became a big collecting subject,” he said. “Steiff was always the most expensive and is consequently the most valuable now.

Born in Giengen, Germany, Margarete was the daughter of building contractor Friedrich Steiff . Doctors finally diagnosed Margarete with polio.[wiki] after 3 years of illness. Margarete regularly attended school throughout her childhood and in spite of the pain in her right hand, went to the needlework classes of Frau Schelling where she completed her training as a seamstress at the age of 17. She occasionally worked with her sisters, who had opened a women’s tailors.[wiki]

Her savings allowed her to buy a sewing machine, the first owned in the town of Giengen, and this led to another opportunity to earn income. Margarete worked on trousseau for the town folk and by her mid-twenties was making fashionable clothes and traveling to other towns to work and visit family.

Entrepreneurship

In 1892, her small company applied for a patent “for making of animals and other figures to serve as playthings”. The patent number was DRP 66996, but this was later withdrawn when contested by another German toy manufacturer.

Margarete’s brother Fritz realised that there was an opportunity to sell large numbers of these toy animals and he took some samples to the market in Heidenheim, coming away with many orders. Production and turnover increased each year as did the variety of toys on offer. Pull-along and ride-on toys were also added with the development of metal frames inside the toys.

By 1889, the company moved into a larger building, which had a corner shop where the toys and fabric could be displayed for sale. The words “Felt-Toy-Factory” were painted in large letters on the outside wall. Next came a printed catalogue for customers to order from, and the business grew.

In 1902, Richard Steiff designed “Bear 55 PB”, the first soft toy with movable joints, which was to become the first teddy bear.

By 1903, a large shipment of toys had been sent to a New York showroom, but there was not much interest in the plush toy bears that were displayed there. In March 1903, Richard Steiff took jointed soft toy bears to a spring fair in Leipzig, where they caught the eye of an American buyer, who ordered 3000 bears. From then on, “Bear 55 PB” became a bestseller in the United States – a remarkable achievement for a small German business from the Swabian Albs. Starting in 1906, the bear became known under the name “Teddy Bear”, named after the American President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.[Wiki]

The Steiff Teddy Bear quickly turned into a family business as Fritz’s kids entered their auntie’s business in 1903. As per June 1988 article in Antiques and Collecting magazine, two of Gretle’s nieces started working for the company. Yet, it was Fritz’s six children who took initiative in the business.

The oldest, Richard, joined the firm during the 1890’s. He acquainted Steiff items with the globally famous Leipzig toy in 1894 and planned a zoo-loaded with creatures after the 1900’s. Richard’s sibling Franz, a materials expert, joined the organization as a chairman in 1898. Paul turned into a creator with the family firm in 1899, Otto went ahead board as a universal merchant and publicizing pro around 1900, and Hugo assumed responsibility for quality control in 1906.

Steiff Teddy Bears

Consequently this cohesive family carried on the tradition after Franz died in 1908 and Margarete in 1909. Hugo and Otto were chosen co-overseeing executives, while Richard and Paul carried on their work on the imaginative side of the organization.

A 6th kin, Ernst Steiff, at long last joined the firm in 1927. Established a reputation as a generous employer, and Margarete nephews carried on that tradition after her passing. Among other benefits, the company offered low-rent apartments and low-interest mortgages to its staff, which by 1909 numbered nearly 3,000.

Steiff Teddy Bear  and Growth in the 20th Century

Though the company had begun making stuffed bears as early as 1892, the “teddy” bears for which the toy maker would become world-famous did not come into play until after the turn of the 20th century. Among the zoo animals Richard Steiff designed in 1902 was a bear with jointed arms and legs. Little did the family know that U.S. political cartoonist Clifford Berryman had by that time touched off a craze that would help launch the company’s biggest selling toy of all time.

The incident arose in 1902, when U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt went on a four-day bear hunt in Mississippi. The president’s hosts had captured a bear cub and tied it to a tree to ensure that their esteemed guest would get a kill on his outing. Roosevelt surprised his hosts when he refused to shoot the ursine youngster, and Berryman immortalized “Teddy’s Bear” in a cartoon for the Washington Post.Steiff Teddy Bears

Whenever Berryman featured the president in a drawing, there too was the little bear. American toymakers, most notably the Ideal Company, rushed to churn out teddy bear toys, but the Steiff bears had already earned the distinction of being first. Ironically, not one of the original (and unmarked) 3,000 Steiff bears brought to the United States is known to exist.

In 2015, Steiff Teddy Bears company meets RIMOWA

Two traditional German companies join forces for a limited suitcase edition. The classic aluminum case from the Cologne case manufacturer RIMOWA is not only adorned with a drawing of the Steiff bear on the outside, the interior of the case is also designed with gray alpaca typical of Steiff. Worldwide, only 1050 of these cases are sold in RIMOWA stores and 250 more in the Steiff shops. Similar to Aurora Plush the company needed to stay flexible in a growing competitive market.

Fast Forward  to 2018

Steiff receives the Disney Heritage Award – The first cooperation between Disney and Steiff came about in 1931. Many fascinating, detailed plush toys followed. This year Steiff receives a very special honor: the Disney Heritage Award.

2017/2018 – The expansion continues….

With the opening of six more Steiff shops and flagship stores in 2017/2018 in Munich (2), Mannheim, Ludwigsburg, Sylt / Westerland, Bremen and Frankfurt and the launch of further Steiff web shops in France and the Benelux countries, the expansion continues.Steiff Teddy Bears

13/01/2020 – Steiff Shop Berlin is moving.

A new Steiff shop will open near the Hackescher Markt in Berlin on Thursday, January 16, 2020. The shop, which was previously located at Leipziger Platz in the Mall of Berlin, will move there.

An important part remains, however, because shop manager Heike von Malottki-Exner and the shop team also move into the new location. No wishes remain unfulfilled on a sales area of 150 square meters. In addition to the world-famous plush toys with the “button in the ear”, current baby and children’s fashion in sizes 50 – 122 and gift ideas for young and old, there is also something new to discover in the shop.

Conclusion

Though the company had begun making stuffed bears as early as 1892, the craze launched the company’s biggest selling toy of all time – the Steiff Teddy Bear in 1903. Named after Theodore Roosevelt the Teddy Bear lives on as strong as ever. In addition to the world-famous plush toys with the “button in the ear”, current baby and children’s fashion in sizes 50 – 122 and gift ideas for young and old, there is also something new to discover in every store.

Frequently Asked Questions –

Plush Toys For Happy Dogs

Why do I need a squeaky toy?

Like other toys for dogs, squeaky toys can be an essential part of you pup’s playtime. They can help keep your dog occupied and distracted while you’re away or busy with other tasks. They can help promote healthy jaws and teeth. And they can physically and mentally stimulate canines by giving them something to focus their attention on. Squeaky toys are especially good for this, since they’ll provide some auditory stimulation, too.

Which squeaky toy is best for my dog?

This depends on what type of dog you have, how old they are, and what their activity level is. Some squeaky toys are plush, making them a good choice for gentler dogs that need the added comfort — but a poor choice for larger or more aggressive dogs, since they’re liable to pull out the stuffing. Other squeaky toys are designed to be thrown around, making them ideal for particularly active dogs. And some squeaky toys are more durable than others, making them best for dogs with big bites.

Amazon’s Best Interactive Plushie in 2020

In recent years plush has become very intelligent. Yes, artificial intelligence has entered the plush toy market.

The top selling interactive plush on Amazon AU can be found at the end of this article. But first let me tell you a bit about the development of this technology.

Modern smart toys started in history with the eighteenth and nineteenth century cuckoo clocks, music boxes of the nineteenth century, and Disney audio-animatronics of the twentieth.

Perhaps the biggest early contribution is from novelty and toy makers from the 1800s who made automatons such as Vaucanson’s mechanical duck, von Kempelen’s The Turk, and the Silver Swan.  All pre-twentieth-century precursors had in common that they had mechanical parts. By the second half of the 1900s toys featuring built-in media players became common.

Mattel

Best Interactive Plushie

For example, Mattel introduced a variety of dolls in the 1960s and 1970s that used a pull string activated talking device to make the dolls “talk” such as the talking Crissy doll and Chatty Cathy.

The first talking plush was a teddy bear called  Teddy Ruxpin, the iconic talking bear from the late ’80s. He has made a come back and he’s flaunting some timely upgrades. The toy bear made a splash when he launched in 1985. He was a first-of-its-kind animatronic toy with motorized eyes and mouth, and he told stories through a cassette player (remember those?) in his back.

It was created by Ken Forsse with later assistance by Larry Larsen and John Davies and the first version of the toy was designed by the firm RKS Design. Later versions used a digital cartridge in place of a cassette. At the peak of its popularity, Teddy Ruxpin became the best-selling toy of 1985 and 1986, and the 2006 version was awarded the 2006 Animated Interactive Plush Toy of the Year award by Creative Child Magazine. A cartoon based on the characters debuted in 1986.

The Jim Henson Company

In 2018, it was announced that Alchemy and The Jim Henson Company would make a new Teddy Ruxpin TV series. The series would be animated in a digital puppetry form and would be aimed at preschoolers.

In 2019, it was announced that The Jim Henson Company would be distributing the series under the Henson Independent Properties banner.

However, it remained until the introduction of the microprocessor in the mid-1970s for smart toys to come into their own.

Texas Instruments

Texas Instrument’s Speak & Spell which came on the market in the late 1970s was one of the first full-featured smart toys. The device is similar to a very limited laptop with LED read-out. It is used for spelling games and guessing a “mystery code”. It speaks and makes a variety of sound effects.

Smarty Bear

Ralph H. Baer, creator of popular electronic toys such as Simon and Maniac, developed an interest in improving the technology used in talking toys. The collection of Baer’s papers in the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play at The Strong includes a series of documents that recount the development process of his Smarty Bear, licensed by Lewis Galoob Toys in 1986.

Smarty Bear differentiated itself from other talking toys on the market by interacting directly with children and answering their questions. Smarty Bear also laughed when tickled, protested when turned upside-down, and fell asleep when ignored. Baer’s materials on the creation of Smarty Bear include schematics, notes, photographs, correspondence, patents, and scripts for the phrases the toy exclaimed.

Best Interactive Plushie

Not to be outdone by other talking bears, Smarty Bear featured available add-ons. The Smarty Box, an interactive video system, played VHS cassettes starring Smarty’s nephew Argyle. One of the first toys to incorporate specially encoded video cassettes, Smarty Bear would interact with the cartoons, helping to solve dilemmas while taking the viewer on educational adventures.

What best distinguishes a smart toy is the way the on-board intelligence is holistically integrated into the play experience in order to create simulated human-like intelligence or its facsimile.

A smart toy is a toy that has a degree of artificial intelligence and can adjust the way it interacts with the user, react to external stimuli and behave according to pre-programmed patterns. The level of intelligence these toys have varies widely, with some able to use voice recognition, touch sensors and smartphone apps to interact with users.

One of the earliest attempts at a toy with ambitions to include the principles of AI was the Furby, which became the first economically successful domestic robot to be sold to consumers upon its launch in 1998.

Children receiving one of the in-demand toys would open the box to find that the Furby spoke only in ‘Furbish’, a synthetic language made up of short phrases and sounds.

Best Interactive Plushie

Intended to replicate the process of learning a language, the Furby would ‘learn’ more English phrases over time, with the ability to learn certain words and phrases more quickly in response to positive reinforcement from the child.

Petting the Furby while it said a particular phrase would encourage it to repeat it again in the future.

There’s a huge variety of smart toys and child-friendly AI gadgets on the market at the moment, including the cutesy Anki Cosmo robot, the trainable robo-pup Aibo, and even Amazon’s Echo Dot kids’ edition. Frankly, there’s never been a better time to delve into the world of connected toys.

Part of their popularity (aside from the whole “wow, look how cool this is” aspect) is the fact that playing with them can actually be really beneficial to children’s development, particularly in terms of introducing them to electronic devices in an increasingly connected environment.

Learning and AI Plush

Aside from preparing children for a high tech future by allowing them to code and program, smart toys can also help them to learn about social interaction, which is particularly useful to children on the autism spectrum who may find it challenging to interact with strangers. There has been many studies done on the benefits interactive toys and development of communication skills. Toys assisted with learning to communicate effectively in the real world by imaginative play. Acting out scenarios with a toy can assists the child gain confidence with social skills and language.

If you are happy with the security of the AI toys you’re buying for your children, their prevalence does throw up some ethical questions. A large part of a child’s development lies in their ability to engage in creative play, where their imagination is the most important plaything they own.

This is why many child development experts prefer ‘open-ended’ toys to rigidly programmed AI toys, like building blocks and dolls. In the hands of a child, even a cardboard box can be a fairy castle, a pirate ship or a rocket to the moon.

Conclusion

It’s even possible that AI toys, specifically humanoid robots, can have an effect on the way children behave, particularly in terms of compliance and following instructions. With AI toys continuing to soar in popularity, it’s clear that lawmakers, manufacturers, and consumers need to work together to ensure that children can reap the benefits from an early introduction to technology while staying safe.

Hot Toys and Gender Neutral Plush

Hot Toys and Gender Neutral Marketing is not about male versus female.

It is about understanding your customer’s profile thoroughly.

Marketers generally adopt the approach of neutral marketing to play safe; by and large both men and women feel that they have not been targeted by the marketers properly.

These plush are not only fluid gender, but it’s completely independent of our personalities, likes, dislikes, and buying habits. Gender neutral marketing means leaving the stereotypes behind. Some clothing companies have started by removing gender specific labels from children’s outfits.

Here are some hot plush items on the gender neutral spectrum,

“What a love!” – by MAM Our daughter received this snuggly lamb at birth, and it is her favorite lovey. We decided to purchase a few back ups just in case, and it is has come in so handy! I think we have purchased 5 of them so far, and she loves them all. They are so soft and well-made. There is no where our daughter goes without her lamby, and each of them has withstood all the love she can give. We throw them right in the washing machine (on delicate) every once in a while. We have had the original for almost 2 years now, and it is still in excellent condition – a little worn in places on it’s head, but the stitching and other details are still perfect. Hot Toys

“Had to buy another to keep in reserve in case she lost the first or it was too dirty” – by Any Jennie (Bangkok, Thailand)

My two-year-old niece had started carrying around a pile of blankets and cooing at it “Oh, tiny baby.” I figured she was old enough for a baby doll, and I researched all of the options out there. I looked at all of the dolls with plastic heads (American Girl, Melissa and Doug, Corolle, Madame someone or other), and they frankly gave me the creeps. This seemed highly recommended–although for younger children, so I though I’d try it out. I gave it to my niece for Christmas, and she immediately said “Oh, tiny baby.” Now Tiny Baby goes everywhere with her. Literally, everywhere. And we hear stories of Tiny Baby’s exploits all the time. My sister had to buy a back-up to swap out secretly in case Tiny Baby got dirty, lost, or eaten by the dog.

Conclusion

These plush are not only fluid gender, but it’s completely independent of our personalities, likes, dislikes, and buying habits. Gender neutral marketing means leaving the stereotypes behind.

The psychology behind gender neutral toys is to allow the child to develop naturally without the pressure of gender roles. Marketing these type of toys and plush has not been overly successful in the past. But there is more effort and buyer understanding these days.
